Frequently asked questions

Is VPNRice free?

Yes. The Free plan gives you 10+ Free servers in 5 countries with every protocol. Premium is an optional in-app purchase that opens all 55+ servers in 35+ countries. Prices depend on your country and are shown in the app.

Does VPNRice keep logs?

We don’t keep your browsing history. Your account and purchase details are kept so the app can work, as described in our privacy policy.

Which devices can I use VPNRice on?

Android phones and tablets (7.0 or later), Android TV and Google TV, iPhone and iPad (iOS 15.0 or later), Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and the Chrome and Firefox browsers. Apps for macOS, Linux, Fire TV, Apple TV and routers are in development.

Which VPN protocols does VPNRice use?

The Android, Android TV and iPhone apps offer WireGuard, RiceGuard and RiceGuardX. The Windows app offers WireGuard and RiceGuardX. Auto chooses for you. The Chrome and Firefox extensions use a browser proxy that covers only the browser.

How many servers and countries are there?

55+ servers in 35+ countries, counted from the same list the app shows. 10+ of them are on the Free plan.

Can I use one account on several devices?

Yes. Sign in with the same account in each app. On a TV, sign in by scanning the QR code on screen with VPNRice on your phone. The number of devices you can use at once is shown in the app.

Will a VPN slow down my internet?

Encryption and the extra trip to the server add a little delay. Choosing a server close to you keeps the difference small; the app does this for you on Auto.

Does a VPN make me anonymous?

No VPN makes you fully anonymous. VPNRice hides your IP address and encrypts traffic on the network you are using, but websites can still recognise you if you sign in, and cookies and browser fingerprinting still work. Use it together with good browser privacy habits.

VPNRice doesn’t connect. What should I try?

Set the protocol to Auto, or try RiceGuardX, which works over TCP port 443 on networks that restrict UDP. Then choose another server, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and update the app. If it still fails, email us your device and app version.

How do I turn on the kill switch on Android?

In Android Settings, open Network & internet, then VPN, tap the gear next to VPNRice and turn on Always-on VPN and Block connections without VPN.

Why does per-app VPN on Android change my protocol to WireGuard?

Per-app mode runs on WireGuard. Turn it off to use RiceGuard or RiceGuardX again.

Why does iOS ask me to add a VPN configuration?

Every VPN app on iPhone and iPad has to register a VPN configuration with iOS. Tap Allow and confirm with your passcode; it only happens once.

How do I sign in on Android TV?

Open VPNRice on the TV and choose Sign in. Scan the QR code on the TV with VPNRice on your phone.

Does the Chrome or Firefox extension protect my whole computer?

No. Extensions only route browser traffic. Use the Windows app to protect every program on a PC.

Which protocols does the Windows app offer?

WireGuard and RiceGuardX, plus Auto. RiceGuard is available on Android, Android TV, iPhone and iPad.

What does Game mode on Windows change?

Only traffic to supported game servers goes through the VPN. While Game mode is on, the app uses WireGuard and pauses ad blocking and the leak guard.

How do I restore a Premium purchase?

Sign in with the same account and use Restore purchases on the Upgrade screen. Purchases are managed by the store you bought from.

How do I cancel Premium?

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from: Google Play subscriptions in Google Play, App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.

Can I install the Android app without Google Play?

Yes. The Android and Android TV download pages have a Direct APK link to the same release, served from user.vpnrice.com.

My IP still shows my real location. Why?

Check that the VPN shows Connected, then open What is my IP on this site. If you use a browser extension, make sure the site isn’t on your skip list, and run the WebRTC leak test.
