VPNRice for Fire TV

An official VPNRice app for Amazon Fire TV is in development. Fire TV runs a version of Android, so it is possible to sideload the VPNRice Android TV APK today, but we don't test on Fire TV devices yet and can't promise every feature will work.

Status

Fire TV uses Amazon's own app store and its own remote-control conventions, and it does not include Google Play services. Our Android TV app is designed for Google TV and Android TV devices, so we want to test it properly on Fire TV hardware before offering it in the Amazon Appstore.

What you can use today

  • Android TV APK

    The Direct APK for TV on this page is an official build hosted on user.vpnrice.com. Fire TV devices can install it through a downloader app.

  • QR sign-in

    The TV app signs in by showing a QR code that you scan with VPNRice on your phone, so you don't need to type on a TV keyboard.

  • Protect the TV with your phone's plan

    If you have Premium on your phone, sign in with the same account to use it on the TV.

How to install VPNRice on Fire TV

  1. Install a downloader app from the Amazon Appstore.
  2. On the Fire TV, open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, and allow installs from unknown apps for your downloader app.
  3. In the downloader, enter the Direct APK for TV link shown on this page and download it.
  4. Install the APK when prompted, then open VPNRice from Your Apps & Channels.
  5. Select Sign in, scan the QR code with your phone, then select Connect.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fire TV officially supported?

Not yet. Sideloading the Android TV APK is possible, but we don't test it on Fire TV devices.

What might not work on Fire TV?

Store-based purchases and some remote-control shortcuts depend on Google services that Fire TV does not have. Sign in with an account that already has your plan.

Where does the APK come from?

From user.vpnrice.com, where we host the official Android TV build.

How do I update a sideloaded app?

Download the latest Direct APK for TV from this page and install it over the existing app. Your sign-in is kept.

Will VPNRice come to the Amazon Appstore?

An official Fire TV version is in development. It will be linked from this page when it is ready.

Is there another way to protect my Fire TV?

If you have an Android TV or Google TV device, install VPNRice from Google Play there instead; that setup is fully supported.
