Instructions to Disable VPN on Devices and Reasons to Use VPN

2023, Aug 26

VPN is a great tool to secure and protect your privacy online. It encrypts your traffic and reroutes it through an intermediary server, making you anonymous and harder to track. However, there are times when you might want to turn off your VPN, such as when you're trying to troubleshoot network problems, save battery or data, or access a blocked website or service.
1. Turn off VPN on Computer (Windows/Mac):
On Windows: Turn on "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "VPN" > Select currently connected VPN > Click "Disconnect".
On Mac: Enable "System Preferences" > "Network" > Select VPN > Click "Disconnect".
2. Turn off VPN on Mobile Phone (iOS/Android):
On iOS: Open "Settings" > "VPN" > Select the currently connected VPN > Turn the "Connect On Demand" switch to off.
On Android: Open "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "VPN" > Select currently connected VPN > Click "Disconnect"
What happens if I turn off the VPN?
Without VPN:
1.Your ISP will display your online traffic, including the websites you frequent, the types of files you download, and your uptime.
2.Your government may monitor your online activities and potentially block websites.
3.Websites can pinpoint your exact IP address and location, leading to targeted advertisements or more closely tracking your activity.
4.Your ISP may throttle your Internet speed if they detect high-bandwidth activities like streaming or gaming.
5.You are less protected from certain cyberattacks, such as man-in-the-middle attacks.
Reasons Why Use VPN
Online Security:
VPNs help encrypt your data, protect them from attacks, and prevent third parties from tracking your online activity.
2. Safe Access on Public Networks:
When you're on a public Wi-Fi network, a VPN helps you browse the web and access your online accounts more securely.
3. Accessing Geographic Content:
A VPN allows you to access geo-restricted online content. By connecting to a VPN server in another country, you can watch blocked TV content, movies, and websites.
4. Privacy Protection:
VPNs help mask your IP address and prevent advertising companies from tracking your online activity.
